Solastalgia - in the time of Covid

September 2020

Although the pressing reality of Covid-19 has diverted attention away from the environmental crisis, the global slow down is helping the planet's ecosystems and we can take some heart in the possibility that these observances, in partnership with our deconstructed selves, will encourage new eco-centric ways of being.

Despite gallery closures, new and continuing ‘Solastalgia’ artists have anchored themselves in the work they do best for this on-line presentation of Solastalgia - in the time of Covid. They do so in the shared virtual presence of love, compassion and service to the community and the planet.

“In our hubris we thought we knew, but as we bow our heads within the virus’ awesome power, all we are sure of now is our defencelessness. In the end this vulnerability may be, for our planet and ourselves, our saving grace, as we step chastened into tomorrow. Released from our certitude, we present our purest offering to the world — our prayers.”
